Grimm Up North
Tonight is the gala opening of the Manchester Horror Film Festival, Grimm Up North! I hope to see a good turn out for it.
Tonight the evening will be hosted by Yvette Fielding and there will be a preview screening of the very cool looking Retreat starring Thandie Newton, Cillian Murphy and Jamie Bell with a Q&A with Director Carl Tibbets and producer Gary Sinyor afterwards.
It’s...

iCrime
Ah hello there, it’s been a while since I’ve posted a review so here you go. I recently watched iCrime for HorrorTalk, it’s a bizarre little film about the seedy underbelly of Hollywood. It’s not a horror film…but I kind of enjoyed it…kind of. Read my review here and watch the trailer here:

Paranormal Activity 3- Trailer 2
It’s daylight so I can now watch the new trailer for Paranormal Activity 3 which I am VERY excited for. This trailer is in danger of showing us too much though. Except for the dad who is HOT. Need to see more of him please. Looking cool to me.

Red State
A couple weeks ago I plodded off on my geeky lonesome self to see the most excellent Kevin Smith as he toured the UK with his new horror film, Red State. See look here:
Well, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but overall I had a pretty intense, exciting time! I really enjoyed the film, but I think it really helped having him there afterwards to point out a few things and to talk about the...
A vile piece of sick crap…with literally nothing to recommend it.

Woodfalls
Back when I started writing for HorrorTalk one of the first DVDs I was sent was a small Brit horror film called Patrol Men. I think that, although the film was slightly flawed, I was very surprised by it and saw a lot of potential in there, it had a great script and a very cool concept. The two directors that made it, David Campion and Ben Simpson, were obviously guys who had...

Harold's Going Stiff
What on earth is this title all about?? Well it’s a very cool British film you need to keep an eye on, it’s doing the rounds at film festivals right now so this is a heads up. I reviewed it for HorrorTalk here but check out the trailer here:

Trailers Trailers Trailers
You got no soul if you’re not excited about this film. This is their best parody trailer yet, also makes me wanna go watch TGWTDT trailer again, ‘cause that’s super badass.
Screw it, here it is not new but still really exciting.
While y’all were looking at nude pics of Scarlett Johannson I was watching the...

For those that want it- the Breaking Dawn trailer. No Twilight sucks comments please I do not care. Very interested in how they can make two films out of one really crappy book, this first part could be fine but what the heck will they do in the second? The book is just a lot of standing around in a forest…

That theory about the odd numbered Final...
…is so, so true. I went to (finally) see Final Destination 5 last night and really enjoyed it. What I love about the (odd numbered) films in the series is how they don’t take themselves seriously at all, they are always so much fun and well written.
I don’t want to spoil anything about this film but I have to say, if you enjoyed the first few films then this is one you...

I’m here to save you again, this time from Sex Drive, which I was told was hilarious but was in fact shit. Shit and boring and not that funny EXCEPT for every single scene with Seth Green. The guy makes any bad film good and this is a fine example of that. He plays an Amish guy who helps fix the car of the teens out looking for sex..I guess… I can’t remember...

Actors that make goooood music
If you’re an actor, you want to be a musician. If you’re a musician, you want to be an actor. There are very few that do both well, but there are some that are talented bastards and aren’t just being greedy attention hounds and I am here to prove it.
Whenever I think about this kind of thing I’m reminded of that scene in Zoolander at an awards ceremony where someone wins...

Grimm Up North
One event I’m really looking forward to is the Horror Festival Grimm Up North which will be taking place in Manchester at the begining of October. They always have some very interesting films and events on, and as a resident of the North, I am so happy things like this take place up here. Anyway, I took some time to chat with the organisers of the festival for HorrorTalk which you can read...

Reviews!
Look at all these awesome fillms I was given the chance to review for HorrorTalk! There is something I would recommend watching about all of them.
Scream 4 (Blu Ray Review)
Wrecked (See last blog post on Scoot McNairy!)
Waterborne (Really took me by surprise, check it out)

Another actor back catalogue
You know that thing where I like an actor and go and watch everything they’ve ever done ‘cause I’m a loser geek? Well that’s happened again.
Recently I watched a film called Wreckage for HorrorTalk (review up shortly!) and one performance stole it for me. Scoot McNairy plays an insane red-neck and it turned my interest in the film around completely.
Anyway, I did a wee...
